I miss Singapore food so much so I searched for information on Singapore food in the places I often visit.  I happened to find a couple of places in Kobe where Singapore chicken rice is served.  I read the information, and took a look at the photos of chicken rice, I then decided to try this Chinese restaurant called "Keizan" located in Tomodacho in Nada ward of Kobe, Japan.  It is located fairly close the train station "Shinzaike" (address is at the end of this article).

From outside, it looks an ordinary Chinese restaurant in Japan (and they are ordinarily Chinese restaurant in this country), but if you look at the flyers put up on the wall carefully, you will notice that they serve Singapore chicken rice.  We hopped in.

We ordered two chicken rice as well as char kway teow (yes char kway teow, they serve char kway teow in the middle of Kobe!).  And here is chicken rice we got!

I did not really consciously realise that the plate which thier chicken rice is on is of Singapore one (usually used to serve Malay food I guess).  It was so natural for us to see this type of plate as we were in Singapore for some 14 years...  We only realised that the plate and dipping plates were from Singapore when the lady at the restaurant told us.

The lady is Japanese and her husband is Singaporean.  They have been back in Japan for more than ten years and they started serving chicken rice some two years ago.

The rice really tastes like real chicken rice rice.  Although rice is Japanese rice, they know how to steam Japanese rice to make it similar to the usual chicken rice rice back in Singapore.  And their chicken really tastes as Singapore chicken rice!  A little too much skin but it was OK.  It comes with home made chili sauce which is fairly good, and also with usual dark sauce (not sure if you can buy that in Japan).   After all, their chicken rice is really Singapore chicken rice!  We didn't really expect it to find such eatery in Kobe.

Although I do not have photos of char kway teow, it was real char kway teow and really good.  It even had Chinese sausage in it.

I am sure will be back here again.
