This is a nice small Thai restaurant located near Sannomiya station of Kobe city in Japan.  We came back to Japan from south east Asia about a year ago and have started missing food from there.  We saw this restaurant a couple of weeks ago while walking around the area, and this time round, we decided to give it a try.

We have been to some south east Asian restaurants in Kansai and Shikoku regions and disappointed by the fact that all of them served Japanese rice instead of the rice from the region.  Though, Baan Thai does serve Thai rice with their food, although it is not cheap, the rice goes extremely well with their food.

The photo above is water spinach and was really nice.  Something you do find in Japanese food.

Above is chicken and not spicy at all so good for those who do not take spicy food, like our kids.  It comes with sweet Thai chili sauce, which is really nice.

Always favorite Thai soup, Tom Yum Goong.  We in fact prefer clear soup but this one isn't.  Not bad but it soup itself did not have much depth in its taste, and did not have standard ingredients such as straw mushrooms. It has shimeji mushrooms and prawns though. Not the best food at this restaurant.

Another favorite food, Yum Woon Sen, Thai style spicy salad with clear noodles.  Really good.  It is less spicy compared to those served in Thailand though.

Well, we were lucky to accidentally find this nice cosy restaurant.  Although foods are not cheap, most of them are really tasty and good. We will be back again for sure!
