Ice Kachang (Ice Kacang)

Although I am not sure if it is true, but I have heard that Ice Kachang (a desert made of ice and some flavoured syrup and/or jelly) is originally from Japan. A Singaporean cooking teacher told that Ice Kachang had been introduced/brought over to Singapore by the Japanese. Well, yes Japan has "Kakigoori" which is exactly like Ice Kachang, but I have never thought of the relationship between Ice Kachang and Kakigoori. This was mainly because I heard some sayings/opinions like "learn ideas and originality from Ice Kachang creators" in Singapore, so I always thought this was originally from Singapore. I am still not sure whether it is really from Japan though.
